This fund is operated by Newfoundland and Labrador Emissions Reductions – a registered charity with the mission to advance education by conducting and/or funding research related to challenges associated with, and possible solutions to, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Newfoundland and Labrador, and to disseminate the results of such research to the public.

The objective of the fund is to de-risk and accelerate Newfoundland and Labrador’s pursuit of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050.

Eligible Projects

Eligible projects are those that engage in research related to challenges associated with, and possible solutions to, reducing GHGs in Newfoundland and Labrador. Possible projects could include:

• Study to assess the economic and/or technical feasibility of cleantech adoption within NL
• Strategy development for the deployment of GHG-reduction processes or technologies within NL
• Pilot project with analysis that builds evidence and de-risks cleantech adoption within NL
• Socio-economic research to understand and overcome cultural barriers to decarbonization within NL
