Newfoundland and Labrador Emissions receives charitable registration

On January 1, 2026 Newfoundland and Labrador Emissions Reductions received approval from the Canada Revenue Agency for its charitable registration.

This will allow Newfoundland and Labrador Emissions Reductions to issue tax receipts to corporations, foundations, governments, and individuals that donate to the fund.

Newfoundland and Labrador Emissions Reductions has a mission to advance education by conducting and/or funding research related to challenges associated with, and possible solutions to, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Newfoundland and Labrador, and to disseminate the results of such research to the public.

The Net Zero Research & Development fund that the organization will operate has an objective to de-risk and accelerate Newfoundland and Labrador’s pursuit of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050. This is one of two funds which will be operated under the Newfoundland and Labrador Emissions Reduction Fund (NLERF).
